Marée Basse

Imagined by Mu Architecture, Marée Basse gives the impression that the St. Lawrence River and the sky meet between two rocks. Clad in weathered cedar and incorporating raw materials like concrete and natural wood, this chalet is ideal for two families. Bedrooms and bathrooms are housed in two separate sections, divided by a striking staircase, while the living spaces open onto a lower-level terrace, fostering both conviviality and a deep connection to nature.

About the property

Marée Basse presents itself as a sanctuary nestled between two rock formations, revealed as though emerging once the tide has receded. From the moment of arrival, the view of the St. Lawrence River captivates the eye. The bedroom volumes stand out against the surrounding forest, while the lower-level living spaces open onto a vast terrace, reminiscent of a suspended beach overlooking the horizon—an ideal gathering place for two families seeking togetherness. Clad in cedar shingles that naturally weather under the sun and elements, the chalet integrates raw materials such as a long exposed concrete wall and a natural wood ceiling. The design emphasizes harmony with the surrounding environment. Strategically positioned, Marée Basse minimizes visibility from the street, initially revealing only two modest structures. It’s upon descending a spiral staircase that a grand, open space is unveiled—bathed in light and framed by lush greenery. Inviting relaxation and contemplation of the landscape, Marée Basse embodies a perfect balance between privacy and connection to nature.
