Le Phare, a chalet designed by Charles Côté, is an iconic work within the TERACEA project by Mu Architecture. With its intersecting cubic design and expansive glass walls, Le Phare offers breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and the Cap-à-l’Aigle marina. Harmoniously integrated into its natural surroundings with its signature green roof, the chalet gained further acclaim by serving as a backdrop in Denys Arcand’s film Le Règne de la beauté.

About the property
Le Phare is one of the first constructions at TERACEA and marks the early achievements of Mu Architecture, founded by Charles Côté and Jean-Sébastien Herr. Its structure is composed of two perpendicular cubes, with one dramatically cantilevered over the ground floor, forming a bold silhouette. The central room on the ground floor, framed by expansive glass walls, offers an exceptional view of the Cap-à-l’Aigle marina. Through its generous fenestration, the St. Lawrence River seems to merge with the interior space, allowing occupants to experience the chalet like a true lighthouse, gazing out at the horizon, guided by the beauty of the open waters.
From the kitchen, a spacious terrace extends the living area, providing a perfect setting to relax or enjoy outdoor cooking on the BBQ. The garden level features four bedrooms and two bathrooms. A long open corridor, lined with glass doors on both sides, creates a seamless flow through the space. One side leads to a hot tub, while the other opens onto a garden, offering a natural transition between indoor and outdoor living areas.
Built on a steep slope, Le Phare integrates effortlessly into its environment, providing spectacular views of the river and surrounding mountains. The chalet also served as the filming location for Denys Arcand’s aptly named 2014 film Le Règne de la beauté.
