About the property
Built over 200 years ago, this historic home was originally located on Rue Fleurie, once the main thoroughfare of the village. Likely owned by a wealthy English-speaking family who sought to enjoy the natural beauty of the region, the house features foundations made of rubble walls with stacked stones. Its structure rests on massive tree trunks, hand-cut with axes and stacked to form the exterior walls.
The house's name, Le Fossile, reflects both its antiquity and the discovery of a fossil embedded in one of the fireplace stones. The grand stone chimney, renovated in 2014 by Alain Rajotte and Florent Moser, serves as the heart of the home. Today, Le Fossile is thoughtfully designed to provide maximum comfort for its occupants. The ground floor includes a bedroom, a bathroom, a summer kitchen, and communal living spaces. The upper floor offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms. A harmonious blend of history, nature, and modern comfort, Le Fossile has preserved its old-world charm while adapting to the needs of contemporary living.
